Hi, I'm Lauren

I'm a storyteller, a culture champion, and an employer branding nerd.

About Me

I'm so happy you're here!

My name is Lauren Peters and I am a San Francisco-based professional who is obsessed with all things employer branding. I started my career as a recruiting coordinator in the tech industry and then found my calling with employer branding. I've been lucky enough to build two employer brand programs from scratch keeping a strong emphasis on authentic storytelling combined with my passion for diversity, equity & inclusion all while helping to build a company culture that I (and all employees) can be proud of!

What I Do

Articles & Blog Posts

This is a sample collection of blog posts and articles I have written highlighting the stories of our employees, company benefits, DEI initiatives, and company culture. I interviewed employees or stakeholders individually, as well as developed question forms to capture each employee's story. I edited all of the following blog posts and articles blog post alongside the featured employee to ensure we were telling their story in the most authentic way possible. Prior to publishing, I worked hand in hand with the creative team to design the assets for the blog page and social media posts to ensure brand consistency while also making the participant and their story shine.

Be You @ Cohesity | The Importance of Pride

June is Pride Month, a time to celebrate and recognize the LGBTQIA+ community, the successes and achievements made by this community, and the continued fight for equality. The momentum behind the Pride celebration dates back to the 1960s in cities from San Francisco to New York with protesters standing up against police harassment of LGBTQIA+ communities. These riots across the country sparked a revolution of sorts that has continued to evolve for decades — in the United States and worldwide. Pr

Cohesity for Good | Shining A Light on Homelessness

Doing something good in the world takes effort. With so much of our time taken with work, family commitments, and our own human needs, it can be difficult to find time to help those less fortunate than ourselves. While we can’t all drop everything and volunteer, we’re lucky that there are others out there making it a priority.

Take for example Paul Maher, Order Management Specialist here at Cohesity. His job is helping to manage all our global purchase orders and fulfillments, and engaging with

Veterans Day @ Cohesity | Making Every Day So Good!

Veterans Day, celebrated in the United States every November 11, is a chance to honor those who served in the U.S. military. Cohesity is proud of our military veterans; they’re our salespeople, our technicians, and our marketers. To celebrate Veterans Day, we talked to Parker Harger, one of our proud veterans, about his role at Cohesity, his military service, and all the great work he’s doing with his non-profit So Good!

Internships at Cohesity: Experience with real impact

An internship is one of the first opportunities for many students to take theory out of the classroom and apply it in the real world. Which is why at Cohesity, we work to ensure our interns are truly a part of our Life at Cohesity and experience the Cohesian experience firsthand.

At Cohesity, our internship program offers university students a chance to go beyond the rote tasks and uninteresting paper pushing offered by so many internships out there. Our interns get their hands dirty, learn res

Lamar Martinez-Daniels on Breaking Through Ceilings—Pride @ Cohesity

June is Pride Month, a time to celebrate and recognize the LGBTQIA+ community, the successes and achievements made by this community, and the continued fight for equality. Pride celebrations date back to June 28, 1969. On this historic date, LBGTQIA+ protesters stood up against a police raid at the Stonewall Inn in New York City. While not the first time members of the LBGTQIA+ community took a stand against this type of injustice, the Stonewall riots sparked a revolution of sorts that has conti

Three Cohesians Share the Importance of Honoring Juneteenth

On January 1, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation freeing all enslaved people in the United States. Two and a half years later, on June 19, 1865, Gordon Granger, a Union general, arrived in Galveston, Texas, to inform enslaved African Americans of their freedom and that the Civil War had ended.

Juneteenth is a day to honor the African-American journey toward equality, to bring awareness to the historical significance of this day, and a time to recognize the Afri

Someone Like Me: A marketing leader finds support during her child’s transition

The learning and navigation of emotions all had to happen behind-the-scenes because for a trans child, when they finally get to where they should have been all along, it is euphoric. For the first time they have a name that fits and is music to their ears! They love the freedom to dress in a way that feels authentic! They are so happy. And when their name is legally changed they are relieved to go back to school knowing that no teacher can ever use the old one (something that can feel like a tas

As I’m sure you can imagine, a lot has changed since our humble beginnings as a recipe app. For one, we’ve gone from a scrappy startup with our core Elastic Stack to becoming a publicly traded company with a full arsenal of search-powered solutions.

Since our start, we’ve led with a human-centric approach to our culture and how we grow. It’s so integrated into what we do, it’s a part of our Source Code.

Four unexpected benefits of working in a distributed engineering org

Software engineers cite constant distractions, long commute times, and a lack of flexibility as the biggest challenges of working in an office setting, according to an internal employee survey conducted by the Elastic Culture team. But the survey also revealed that the biggest benefits of a distributed environment could be the new opportunities it opens for employees — for example, the freedom to catch some waves during the workday.

As Elastic offices slowly begin to reopen worldwide in accorda

Pride @ Elastic | Feeling seen and safe as a trans woman

We all want to work for a company where we fit in. That’s why Elastic built a Source Code that encourages all to come as they are. In this Pride blog series, we highlight LGBTQIA+ Elasticians who have a unique story — one, perhaps, just as unique as yours.

We asked Kiley Davidson, IT Systems Engineer, to talk about her experience and share how Elastic’s culture allowed her to come out at work and thrive as a trans woman.

When I joined Elastic in April of 2018, I knew I was trans, but wasn’t ou

International Women's Day kickoff at Elastic

The theme of this year’s International Women’s Day is #ChooseToChallenge. It is a necessary call for individuals to commit themselves to forging a more inclusive world.

At Elastic, we challenge ourselves year round to think both more broadly and deeply about inclusivity. The research is clear: when everyone is from the same background, goes to the same schools, shares the same lived experiences, you can quickly slip into group think. More diversity means more view points, more ideas, and ultima

Black History Month 2021

The first Black History Month is a history of steady progress. Originally conceived as Negro History Week and celebrated in the first week of February to align with the birthday of Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglas, the current month-long celebration was proposed by educators and administrators at Kent State University in Ohio in 1969 at the tail end of America’s most revolutionary decade for racial justice. Since then, Black History Month has become a yearly reminder of the struggles, contr

The way we do Elastic Support is no different. Support is offered at various levels of subscriptions, but no matter your level, our support team is curious and works hard to provide solutions to the most unique use cases.

Elastic Career Stories | Celine Jeremiah on Learning @ Elastic

I started at Elastic as a recruiting coordinator in November 2016. Four years is a long time for most people my age to stay at one company, let alone their first company. But my reason is simple: I’m continuously learning and growing here.

Since 2016, I’ve grown from a fresh-faced undergrad eager to schedule interviews on our Recruiting Operations team into a global onboarding specialist on our four-person Non-Recruiting HR team. Now I work as a learning & organizational development consultant

UK Black History Month | Uniting different heritages

Black History Month in the United Kingdom (UK) was first celebrated in 1987. Until then, Black History Month was only celebrated in the United States.

It was Ghanaian Akyaaba Addai-Sebo, coordinator of special projects for the Greater London Council (GLC), who organized the inaugural Black History Month event in the UK. He was inspired to organize the event after being approached by one of his constituents with a problem: the previous evening, her son, named after political activist Marcus Garv

Videos

Here are some of my favorite examples of videos I managed from beginning to end. Starting with an idea, I would then source employee participants, craft interview questions, be an onsite interviewer (behind the camera), storyboard each video with transcriptions, communicate the vision and edits to our video teams, and then deliver each video with a strategic internal and external promotional campaign plan.
